Choosing a face sunscreen you will wear daily
The best face sunscreen is the one that survives your mornings. Texture and finish usually matter more than chasing the highest SPF on the shelf.
Start with wearability
If a formula pills under makeup, stings eyes, or feels greasy, it will stay unused. Test candidates on ordinary weekdays. Look for broad-spectrum labeling and an SPF you accept for daily wear (often SPF 30+), then judge comfort.
Finish and skin type (rough guide)
- Oily / combination: lighter gel-cream or fluid textures; matte or natural finish.
- Dry: creamier moisturizing bases that reduce the need for a separate heavy moisturizer.
- Sensitive: fewer fragrance extras; patch test new products; mineral options help some people.
Makeup layering
Apply sunscreen first, wait briefly, then makeup. If pilling happens, reduce the number of layers, change order slightly, or try a different sunscreen texture. Powder SPF can help midday top-ups but should not replace a proper morning layer.
Eyes and white cast
Eye stinging is common with some filters. Apply carefully and consider a mineral stick around the orbital area if needed. White cast is more common with some mineral formulas; modern tinted options exist if that bothers you.
Buying with less waste
Start with a size you will finish. Note expiry. Store away from hot dashboards. For label literacy, see SPF explained and expiry and travel tips.
